Overshoot

Overshoot is the flight path length that extends past the area of interest. This is a valuable aspect to consider when flight planning, as it helps ensure complete data collection. The amount of overshoot is dependent on the sUAS type and altitude. For multirotor missions, overshoot is less important but still valuable and around 10-25 meters of overshoot is a good place to start. Overshoot is critical for fixed-wing operations because it takes time and space for the aircraft to turn around and capture the next flight line. Wind can further impact the needed amount of overshoot. An overshoot of 100 meters or more is common for fixed-wing missions.
