Australian regulation for flying drones

In Australia, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulates the use of drones, also know as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), unmanned aircraft system (UAS), remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) or remote piloted aircraft systems (RPAS).

The drones safety rules vary depending on whether their use is for commercial or recreational purposes. The following pages outline the CASA regulations for commercial operations of RPAS as well as the possible licenses needed depending on the operating conditions and payloads.
